His legacy
My last moment with Cody

I will never forget that fateful day, when my youngest son was taken from me. I had given Cody a big hug and kiss before I stepped out of the house to go to work. He came out on the porch and gave me another hug and said "I love you mommy!" He waved and smiled at me as I left. When I got to work, I told one of the guys, that I had a bad feeling about the boys. He asked me "why." I told him that the older 2 were going quail hunting with their grandfather and Cody would be playing with his other cousin. He said," they have hunted before right? And they are with adults, right?" I said," yes." He said," they will be fine." I wish right then that I would have left work and held Cody in my arms to never let him go. But, God needed my little angel and mercifully took him home. I got to spend a whole day on our ski trip, the week before, with my son, Cody. In some of his actions, the week before his death, I think he sensed his leaving me. I guess it is better not to know when they are leaving, because I wouldn't have been able to let him go. I know I will see him again, for he had accepted Jesus in his heart. Even in his death, Cody put others first. He was an organ donor. Cody was coming home with his grandfather and brothers when he was struck by a speeding semi while trying to cross the road on a four wheeler. I would like to tell you a little bit about him. Cody was 9 yrs old. He would have turned 10yrs on Jan. 24th. He was in 4th grade. He was an honor student. He loved football and played little league on the Jaguars (#44). His favorite team was the Florida Gators. He went to his first Gator football game in the fall. He was an excellent drummer and won 1st place ($102) in a talent show. His 12yr.old brother and him wrote a song about their daddy that they were going to perform in another talent show in March. He was going to play the drums and his brother was going to play the guitar and sing. He also loved to sing and was in the chorus at school. He loved to fish, swim and ride four wheelers. He just learned to snow ski this Christmas. When asked who were his good friends in school, he would say “Everybody is my friend.” He was always smiling and gave the best hugs. He gave us the best of his life and we will miss him.

Cody, I miss you so much, mommy

January 24, 1995 - January 1, 2005

He was just a little boy
with a heart full of love,
yet God the Father called him
to his heavenly home above.

He was just a little boy
with so much in store,
yet on that fateful day
his life became no more.

He left behind a family
with mourning in their hearts
who sorrow at his passing.
his soul from earth departs.

Forever in God’s presence
his soul with God resides.
In heav’nly mansions yonder
forever to abide.

We know you cannot come back.
We miss you tenderly;
but one day soon in heaven,
united we will be.

I Corinthians 15:54b-55
Death is swallowed up in victory.
O Death, where is your victory?
O Death, where is your sting?
